“Spring is one of my favorite times of year, in with the new and out with the old”

With Spring now upon us, I want to talk about ways we can freshen up our homes!

1. LIGHTEN UP

Now is a good time to trade out everything heavy for light, light, light! Put away heavy throws and trade them out with lightweight and colorful pillows and throws. If you don’t have anything seasonal, then point to having some seasonal finds in your future…

2. CHANGE YOUR SCENTS

Use light and fresh candles for spring. By doing this it will make your mood instantly go to happy Spring, and also your house will smell like a new chapter. If you don’t burn candles, low simmer some lemon and oil on the stove or try essential oils. My favorite smells for spring are Lavender and Grapefruit.

3. CLEAN….CLEAN….CLEAN….AND DECLUTTER

Beating your drapery is the best way to clean it, shake rugs outside and be sure to dust those baseboards

4. REPOT SOME ORCHIDS

You can use a basket or a beautiful container that you already have. Just pop the flowers out of the container they are sold in and top with moss or Spanish moss. It will transform your space and be an instant Spring moment.

5. MAKE YOUR OUTDOOR AREA READY

After the LONG winter, ready your outdoor spaces and make it company ready. Clean it up, spruce it up and make it inviting. This is the best time to be outdoors and have friends over for appetizers and cocktails. Clean off patio furniture, pressure wash those cobwebs away and maybe even plant a new plant here and there.

6. BRING THE OUTSIDE IN

Bring in a piece of garden statuary or even a garden table inside. Find a new way to style it, and instantly it will make you feel like spring inside even if it might be raining outside.

7. HAVE FUN WITH PAINT

You can play around and paint your front door a new color. Paint a new accent wall in one of your rooms that is a bright color that screams spring.

8. ADD A FLAG

Adding a seasonal flag can bring curbside appeal up and help your neighbors get in the spring mood as well. We call that a win-win in decor.

I hope you are enjoying the weather getting nicer out. If you are wanting to think about doing any bigger projects then above, be sure to check out my Design DNA course to make sure you are identifying your design style. By taking the course you will be confident in your choices and not be second guessing any of them.

As always, have a colorful week and feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the above.

xx, Kimberly
